Shutters

There’s no doubting that shutters can give your home a different look and feel to curtains. If you’re after a modern look, then these are the things for you. They’re far more contemporary, and will make your home look newer.

In addition to this, you have loads of different varieties on the market today. You could have roller shutters, timber ones; the list goes on and on. With so much variety, this only means one thing. You’ve got a far wider choice when decorating your home. No matter what your house looks like, you should be able to find shutters that suit the way it looks.

Thirdly, shutters are better for controlling the light levels in your home. It’s easier to dictate how much sunlight is let into a room. Plus, because of their design, you get an equal spread of light in the room too. Unlike curtains, where you have a beam of light when they’re half opened, with the rest of the room in shade.

Curtains

Now, curtains are going to offer a few subtle differences that you may find pleasing for your home. While shutters are modern, curtains give more of a homely feel to the place. You can make a living room look and feel cozy with a nice pair of curtains. If you want your house to look and feel like home, then these are a good choice for you.

Secondly, a big benefit of curtains is that they help trap in heat when it’s cold. With some curtains in your house, you may find that you’re warmer during the winter months. And, you could see a reduction in your heating bills as a result.

Finally, curtains come in various materials. The benefit of this is that you can pick and choose a style that fits your interior design. For example, if you have a bedroom that’s designed around the theme of love, they some red silk curtains would go down well.

Verdict

As you can see, both things have their positives. And, truth be told, there is no real winner here. Shutters and blinds are both great additions to your home. It all depends on what type of house you have and the interior design you’re going for. If you want a nice, modern home, then shutters are the best option for you. On the other hand, traditional homes are best suited to curtains.

Also, there’s nothing wrong with using both in your home either. Some rooms may be better suited to shutters while some are best for curtains. Personally, I like having curtains in the bedroom. But, i think shutters are great for the living room or kitchen. It boils down to personal preference, but hopefully, this guide has helped you understand the benefits of both.
