Low-Cost Startup Options For Contractors

In today’s world of opportunities, there are so many ways you can get started as a contractor. So many low-cost ways, I should say, because tools such as the Internet have given us all the freedom to start businesses with relative ease. Without going too deeply into the specifics of how and why this is, let me just say that there are more choices than ever, and modern technology has given us a seemingly endless amount of resources that enable us to create the business we want. For more information on this, you can read our article here.

Since you are reading this article, I’m going to assume that you’re looking to become a contractor, or you already are, to some degree. One of the easiest ways to take advantage of the sheer multitude of opportunities out there is to get a business license. This will open a number of doors for you with regards to various organizations and groups that you can join. Thus, allowing you to build your network and expand your horizons when it comes to getting more clients. But, one of the other things you can do with a business license is you can create a Google Business page. When people in your area look up “contractors” or a term related to your business, you will be at the top of the list.

To further expand on this, you should have a website. Websites can be free, but I recommend paying a few bucks a month and having a simple WordPress site set up. Create service pages, talk about the services you offer, make an “About Us” page. You should blog about once a week or so, depending on your schedule. This allows you to connect with the people who go to your site, share valuable information, and to entice individuals to come to your site due to the information that you’re offering. For more information on this, you can read this article from HubSpot.

Those simple marketing strategies will do wonders for your company. But, let’s say that you bid on a contract, and you won the bid. Now, you have a job. This is new to you, and you’re a little scared, but you’re excited, too. This is good. What you need to do is work with people – including the client – on developing a rock-solid, airtight plan that will allow you to know exactly what needs to be done and what you need to purchase. This allows you to create a budget. Then, take the time to shop around to find the best prices on materials. When all of that is said and done, there is the question of transportation.

Purchasing a truck is not a great idea in today’s’ economic climate. Renting is the far better option, and there are so many excellent rental services out there, many of which are affordable and quick, which is very important in today’s economy. This is especially true since you’re starting a business, and you need a good return on investment, without taking on any debt.

Renting a pickup is easy, and we’ve found Flex Fleet Rental to be the best service! To begin, set up an account, then order the trucks you need. They take them to your site, and when you’re done, they pick them up! It’s that easy, and renting is the best option for your new business!
