Different Types of Bathtubs for Different Needs

Going home after a full day at work or school can leave you with muscle tension, stress and anxiety. Soaking in a warm bath at the end of the day with good music is a sure-fire way of relaxing and getting rid of any tension in your body. If you don’t have a bathtub in your house yet and are planning to get one installed soon, you should know that there are several types of baths for different purposes and different functions and aesthetic features.
Freestanding

Freestanding baths are not connected to either the floor or the wall. They are more practical than a bath that is connected to the wall and floor, as you can change the location in the bathroom as long as you have ample space. Plumbing is exposed, so it is wise to invest in a plumbing system that is not an eyesore but rather will add a unique touch to the look of the bathroom. But they tend to be expensive compared to other types of bathtubs.
Alcove

They are the most common type of bathtub that you often see in homes. They are also the cheapest and the easiest to install. They can be walled in by tiles and panels. But they have size restrictions; most alcove tubs are only 5 feet long, so for those who are looking for bigger and wider tubs, they may not be for you.

Drop-In

Drop-in baths are much like alcove baths, but their difference lies in the “box” that encases them. Drop-ins require a wooden or concrete structure where it can be dropped in, hence the name. You can have free rein on the design of the encasing. The baths already come with rims, to make the fit perfect. They also cost more than alcove baths.

Corner

If you want a more unconventionally-shaped bathtub, then you can consider corner baths. They also require more space in the bathroom as they tend to be a lot bigger than the others, allowing two to three people at any one time. They also require more water because of their size and take a lot longer to fill up. They are not as practical as the others though, and they are more suitable for adult use. For aging individuals, it is recommended to get walk-in tubs like the ones at American Tubs walk in tub medicare. By having one, it ensures that you will avoid slips while taking a bath.

Whirlpool

They are probably the best type of bath that you can buy, price notwithstanding. They have water or air jets that make the water bubble and the pressure makes the bubbles become “invisible hands” that massage your body parts. Whirlpool baths are best for those who have muscle tension and aches.

Consider the size of your bathroom as well as your budget besides the aesthetic features and function of the bath of your choice. But whatever you choose, you will surely have a relaxing time every time you soak your tired body in it.
