My Daughters First Period, oh my! #AD

Seems like just yesterday my daughter was barely walking and talking, but now I’m discussing her menstrual cycle, or as we say, period!

It’s uneasy for many parents, but for me, well, it’s normal since this is my second daughter to explain a period too. Most kids, if not all, already know about “periods,” either from their friends or the internet. Heck, you can pull anything up and learn about it from the internet.

Are you aware that today’s young girls are getting their periods at younger ages than ever before? The best way to know if your daughter is experiencing her menstrual cycle is by recognizing a few signs like the amount of hair they have under their arms or other bodily changes that says puberty is close or around the corner.

You aren’t going to die!

When my daughter got her menstrual cycle she was overwhelmed with so many questions and concerns even though we had that Mom & Daughter talk many times. I can remember her saying, “Mom am I going to die”….I simply looked into her eyes to reassure her that no honey, you’re not going to die, it’s just your body is changing. *wink*

Even though it was hard for my daughter, it was just as hard for me because it comes with the realization that my little girl is in fact growing up and becoming a little lady. I knew once this day had arrived that many changes would occur within her like, moodiness, privacy and much more.

But more importantly I had to make sure I found the right pads for her…We needed pads that would not only do the job in protecting her during that time of month, but also keep her comfortable. This is where the Always Infinity comes into place, you see Always Infinity is made with a super absorbent material called FlexFoam™ that can absorb 10x its weight. Always Infinity offers amazing protection like never before.

Always Infinity for Periods

FlexFoam™ is an innovative foam material, 20 years in the making, which absorbs 10 times its weight, yet feels like nothing. While other pads are made of cotton fluff, Always Infinity gives women remarkable protection in an incredibly resilient pad that is 3 millimeters thin (approximately as thin as a nail file).

Another great thing about this pad is it provides a 3-D body fit for maximum comfort, designed to mold into each woman’s unique shape without bunching. The pad’s form fitting channels make the pad flexible and more comfortable, plus with the advanced technology, fluid will be drawn away from the skin and distribute to the bottom layer of the pad. This will help to provide women with a dry fit that molds to the body.

Always Infinity Main Protection

All these main protection factors from the Always Infinity pads are important for my daughter during her cycle. I want to make sure she is protected and comfortable at all times. I love that the Always Infinity pads are small and easy for her to carry in her pocket, backpack or purse.

Since starting her menstrual cycle we’ve discussed over and over how important it is for her to have an Always Infinity pad on hand and to pay close attention to the dates of her last period. That date will help determine when her next cycle will begin again. I informed her that cycles usually run 28 to 30 days for some girls, but either way, when she knows that time is near she can always count on Always Infinity pads to keep her protected and comfortable.

Let me say it took her some time to get used to her cycle, as well as some time to become comfortable with pads. Now she has it all together. She’s aware of the circumstances and knows how to handle the situation with the use of an Always Infinity pad.

How are you dealing with your daughters first period?

They’ve got the advice you’re looking for and the answers to the questions you may be afraid to ask. • My daughter and I both handled it well! We talked freely about it so when it happened, she was comfortable with what was going on. I was ok because I knew she was well informed. The first pad I bought were Always and to this day that is what she uses. She will be 18 in July…we as mom’s can survive it…but it ain’t always easy!

  • I remember the mom daughter talk. It seems like it was so long ago. She’s 30 now. We used Always pads because they worked great. I wish they had ones like this when I still had my period. My sister explained it to my niece who got hers at 12. I got mine at 12 so did my daughter and both my sisters. My niece has a friend that got hers at 10. Im like no way! Thats just way to young. Thank you for this post 🙂

  • I have quite a few years before I have to deal with this with my little girl, but it’s nice to see that there are much better pads out there now than when I was 10 and got my period.

  • I am aware that girls are getting their periods younger – drat!! A couple of my daughters are now dealing with these issues. They have come around to say, mom how did you do it with 4 daughters at different times?? There is 10 years between my oldest and my youngest daughter. We had to have our poor dog neutered, because at any given time, myself or one of the 4 girls were in “heat” (as the vet called it). He started dragging “things” out of the garbage and start eating them – yuk & nipping at us!! My poor husband was cursed! My favorite pantiliners are Always! I use them all the time even though I am way past the period stage.

  • In the old days, mothers did not tell their daughters to expect the hormonal menustration to their bodies and the young ladies did think they were dying. I am so glad we live as women in the modern world.

  • My 11 year old granddaughter started asking questions recently. I tried to answer, but then she would say “Nana, I learned that in school.” Her mother in on top of this subject. I am hoping they make the right choice.

  • My mom insisted I use only pads when I first had my period! I felt deprived at the time, but now I’m glad she did. And boy have the pads come a long way since then! I think good quality pads are the best thing for girls to use when their periods start so they can become comfortable with themselves and their cycle.

  • Yes, I know girls are starting their period much younger. That’s why my daughter has started talking to my granddaughter about it. Always has been a favorite brand for our family for many years.

  • These were not around when I had started mine. I was 12 and I am now 60. However , I also was not very informed,it was something that was not really talked about with my mother until after it happened..and in school at that. I made sure not to have that happen with my daughter and now my grand daughter,,,they both use this product and are very happy with it.

However, I have used their pads for many different reasons and love them all. I know when it’s my granddaughters turn, she will use them too.

  • I talked to my daughter before she got her first period and tried to make sure I gave her enough information, When I had my first period it was 3 days before my 11th birthday and in school I really wasn’t prepared.

  • My daughter is coming due to start anytime. I appreciate your post because as a mom there are so many to try and we are several years down the road from when we first started. Finding the one that is right for her is so important.

  • My daughter would kill me if I had put her period experience on the net but I’m glad someone did because your right we as mom’s should pick the pads that is right for each daughter ,I don’t like the idea of a young girl using tampons until they are lot older ! It’s just my opinion

    Reply
  • You’re so lucky she’s willing to use pads! My daughter refused and used only tampons. Big controversy there, bu ive always believed in pads. Always brand makes good products also.
