  1. Have a Power Nap

If you’ve got 20 minutes to spare then you can easily squeeze in a power nap. In fact, they say that the best amount of time for a snooze is under half an hour. Get into bed, close the curtains and set your alarm. You’ll feel refreshed after just 20 minutes of shut eye. Just make sure you remind everyone not to disturb you. Waking up before you’re ready will make you feel more tired. And, sleep deprivation is a terrible thing!

  1. Meditate

If you’ve never tried meditating as a form of relaxation, you don’t know what you’re missing out on! You don’t have to be a Buddhist monk to reap the rewards of meditation. You also don’t need loads of fancy equipment or training. You can download apps to help you meditate in the comfort of your own home. Take just 10 minutes a day to get some headspace. You’ll be surprised at how much better it can make you feel.

  1. Yoga

Along a similar vein to meditating, yoga can also be great for rest and relaxation. It’s technically exercise, so it can release lots of happy hormones as well. A winning combination! Invest in a yoga mat and some comfortable clothes to workout in. You can then find a range of different how-to videos on the internet. It’s super easy, and you’ll feel like a new person when you’re finished. Combine yoga with the meditating for the ultimate in R&R.

  1. Massage

Who doesn’t love a good massage? If you’ve got the time, head to a beauty salon to get a professional to work out all those knots. If you don’t have the time or budget for this, then you can get personal massagers to use on yourself. If you read the consumer opinion of the Hitachi Magic Wand, then you’ll see that this is a popular choice. You can also buy massage chairs or attachments if that’s more your cup of tea. Either way, a good ten-minute massage will relieve some of the day’s stresses.

  1. Go for a Stroll

Again, another form of mild exercise. A quick stroll around the block can make you feel a million times less stressed. Especially if the sun is shining as well. If you’ve got a dog, then take him or her with you. If not, on your own is just as good. Walk around the park for an added boost of happiness.

There you have it! Five excellent ideas for when you get five minutes of peace. Print this out and refer back, when you need a quick boost of happiness and relaxation.
