Sharing...do your kids share?

I went to see my little grandsons today and both were out having a ball with each other. Playing, laughing, swimming and more. They look so delightful until that moment came of "he took my toy" or "give it back" or "he won't share with me." lol lol I just stared at the both of them thinking to myself, "What went wrong?" Where is the love they both shared in the beginning? lol lol. It was gone!!

I ask my oldest grandson to come sit with me and let's talk. He said Big Momma,(that's what he calls me)..lol why do I have to share my toys with him. Well it started off really well with him listening to me and explaining that he is your little brother and you should want to share with him and for that matter anyone who may play with you. I told him that if he didn't learn how to share that he would be a very lonely child,no one would ever want to play with him. I ask him would he like that and of course he stated NO!

I don't believe in making a child share, I believe in helping them learn that sharing is a good thing and that by sharing others will appreciate them being friendly and nice. I think when you make a child share it makes them angry and then they begin to share out of anger not out of kindest.

Sharing should be taught not enforced on a child. I believe when you enforce anything on a child they really don't get the full concept of what we are trying to teach them. Sometimes children will share just because we said so. I want him to learn to share because it is the Right thing to do.

Do your kids share?

We actually just had 8 toddlers vacationing in our home this past week and I was amazed at how well my 3 year old twins did share (wish i could say the same for the kids who were staying with us...)
